2002 proved to be one of The Keewatin Horror’s best years. The whole crew
was back once again, along with the addition of Ellis (Jo’s new boyfriend), to re-
create another night of terror. 2002 used the most space to date by extending
the event into the backyard of 255 Keewatin Ave.
The door was present once again to provide an entrance to the alleyway, which
opened up into a large cemetery filled with numerous gravestones and
graveyard dwellers. Sound and lights were used to truly illuminate the
graveyard as well as fog emitting from the ground (for a short time until we ran
out of dry ice). Upon walking through the first part the visitors were greeted by
Jo sprawled out on a table with her insides on the outside and Jeff (dressed as
a Carnie) eating the innards and offering it to the visitors (later replaced by
Ellis and Rebecca).
Will and Erin were stationed in the garden shed beside Jeff and Jo. Will dressed in his crazy doctor get-up once
again moved in sync with a strobe light while Erin was shown cut in half on a table with her guts pouring from her
torso and legs. This was truly a sight to see and gave off a great effect that Erin was actually cut in half, not to
mention the fact that it looked absolutely disgusting.
One of the most time consuming props we’ve ever built was a fully functional gallows located in the back of Erin’s
yard beside the garden shed. Built entirely from old pieces of lumber and incorporating a dummy (named “Earl”)
hanging from the noose, the gallows seemed all worth the time it took to build it once light up by torches on
either side. Many visitors did not get a chance to view this part of the event because Justin (Erin’s ex-boyfriend)
did a very poor job of getting visitors over to the site where it was located (he was later stripped of his duties and
has not been seen at the Keewatin Horror since).
The night went pretty well, minus a few minor set-backs (rain, letting too many people in at once, and not being
prepared for visitors) and proved to be very successful with even more praise from visitors and definitely made
the crew able and willing to pull it off again in 2003.
