The Keewatin Horror 2004 proved to be the most successful year to date
bolstered by increased exposure by various media outlets (North Toronto Post,
North Toronto Town Crier, CityTV and The Sponsorship Report) as well as our
wonderful sponsors!

Highlights included The Keewatin Horror projected by a laser across the front of
255 Keewatin Avenue to draw visitors near to face their fears of what lay beyond
the now infamous front door.  Bugs Without Borders (one of our sponsors) was
set up on the front drive accompanied by a plethora of insects and reptiles for
the visitors to handle and observe.  Upon overcoming their fears of various
bugs, visitors joined the large crowd that had amassed in front to be the next to
experience The Keewatin Horror.
Erin welcomed our guests by enticing them to walk down the dark alleyway, complete with a strobe light, while
occupying herself by bouncing a ball up and down in time with the light.  Singing a popular children’s song
only increased the eeriness of this particular scene.  Upon getting up the courage to walk past Erin, visitors
next met Jeff decked out as the psychotic chainsaw wielder spewing smoke as the chain emitted a deafening
noise.  The backyard was once again set up as a creepy looking cemetery with Reuben prepared to jump out at
unexpected passer-by’s.  Next, visitors were treated to a very disturbing scene set in a makeshift bathroom
complete with white walls scribbled with cryptic writing spelling the word ‘UGLY.’  Rebecca lay still in the
bathtub writhing and stirring her badly wounded body while slowly tracing the letters on the walls with her
finger.

While distracted by Rebecca’s absolutely terrifying performance, Alicia let out a blood curdling scream from
the slaughter house next door to draw the visitors attention to her.  She sat bound and gagged in the corner of
an old shack filled with hanging body parts from the rafters and Nick hacking away at severed limbs, while
humming along to “Blue Moon”.  The entire scene was quite disgusting with blood and guts dripping from the
table onto the cold pavement below.

Moving along visitors were startled by the realization that the large alien head poking out of the well in Erin’s
backyard was adorned on the head of Ellis, who proceeded to emerge from the well.  This effect merely pushed
visitors along to the entrance of the “St. Edmunds Asylum for the Criminally Insane” where Dre greeted the
guests as the asylum’s security guard.  With his stomach literally hanging out of his torso, he lay still and
motionless until the crowd drew nearer.  Upon entering the asylum the crowd was startled by the emergence of
Nate dressed as an inmate clearly beyond the state of insanity sporting a clown mask.  Scraping a large stick
along the cell walls helped to make guests leery as to what lied ahead.  Upon braving the long dark hallways of
the asylum the doors opened up to Mitch, as the executioner, tying up Laura in preparation to hang her from
the gallows pole.  Joanna, dressed as an 18th century wench watched on in fear as she knew her fate had been
sealed and she would be next.  Walking down the dark alleyway once more, led visitors to the exit and back to
the comforts of reality.

All of the effects and overall success of this year would not have been possible without the countless hours put
in by our talented crew, volunteers, and our sponsors.  We were lucky to have our first attempt at acquiring
sponsors go smoothly and have 6 sponsors who were so very dedicated to helping us out with this year’s
event.  Big thanks go out to all those who helped as The Keewatin Horror would not have been what it was
without their support.

Other thanks must be given to those who attended this year and had such great things to say about our
performance.  We’re very honoured to be a part of this community and provide this event for the children and
adults of the area.  We will most definitely return in 2005 for another night of terror!
